Basketball and Soccer Scores

January 12, 2008
Well, we're back into sports with another week under our belts. Josh's school team won both games this week, which puts them at 7 and 2, I think. They are doing pretty well, but have a tough couple of games this week. His Wham team didn't fare as well, losing their opener. But I have a feeling that they just have to get into a groove. There is too much talent on their team to not end up doing great.
Meg's Arsenal team won again, which puts them 2 and 0 for the winter season. They played an awesome game on Saturday. Everyone really gave a hundred percent and looked great out there. Meg even took a ball in the face and kept on playing. . .until her nose started bleeding, that is.
Kyle opened up his Wham season playing against his last year team. They don't keep score, so we don't know who won, but I could hazard a guess that would make Kyle unhappy. They played great though and it was a close game full of some pretty serious rivalry! Kyle also got to play a baseball game for the opening of Gilbert's new Big League Dreams Park. He had a great time and apparently the facility is over the top. Hopefully, we'll get to play there again someday.

Happy 13th Birthday Josh!

Nice personalization on the birthday brownies.
That's the chocolate cake from Johnny and Debbi. Looks good, huh?

Wow! Who can believe that I've entered into the ranks of having a teenager! Josh turned 13 on Sunday and I think he had a pretty decent birthday. On Saturday night after a dissapointing day of football, Josh's friends came over to swim and play "capture the flag." What's that you're asking? No! We didn't get a pool, but luckily we were granted access to the "Patton Party Palace" next door and the boys had a great time eating B-B-Qed burgers and swimming. The boys sort of milled about from one thing to the next, but overall I think they had a pretty fun time just hanging out.
Sunday, Kelly and Lynette came over with brownies which Kelly placed 13 candles in after carving "Happy Birthday Josh" in the top with a knife. Pretty clever, I think. Then Johnny and Debbi Haggard dropped by with the most perfect chocolate cake! Josh promptly hid that in the laundry room so that he could be in charge of doling it out himself. Seriously. My most unselfish kid becomes extremely selfish with his birthday cake from the Haggards. (I have to admit that I don't really blame him.) Lastly, the evening was rounded out with a visit from Grandma and Grandpa McDowell and Jeana and the kids. Happy Birthday Josh!

Good thing that you have friends who will bring Josh a cake after that crap brownie display. (Can you hear me laughing from there?)
Happy Birthday Josh!! We thought of you all day and then in classic Mickelson fashion - didn't call! We love you.
